How important is stretching?
Most of us accept that getting fit involves doing some form of Aerobic exercise, but how many of us realise the important part that stretching and strengthening exercises have to play in our fitness regime. If we don't stretch our muscles regularly, they may tighten and shorten.
Tightened muscles can lead to muscle impabalance in the body, which will result in poor posture. This in turn can place stress on various parts of the body, in particular the neck and back.
In addition, stretching improves blood supply to the muscles and coordination between muscle groups, and decreases the muscle tightening effect that occurs with aging.
What's more it's fund to do. If you continue to stretch correctly after each training session your improvementin muscle tone and general flexibility should soon become self evident.
